DALTON — A driver's failure to stop at a stop sign ended with a bang late Thursday night, leaving two vehicles debilitated at the intersection of Pittsfield's East Street and Dalton Division Road. No one was injured.
Zachary Geranios, 17, of Pittsfield was headed north on Dalton Division Road in a Ford Explorer when he collided head-on with Brian Scott, 20, of Easthampton, who was driving a Nissan Altima east on East Street.

Dalton Police Officers John Bishop and Christopher Furlong responded to the scene around 11:45 p.m. and find both vehicles badly bashed and resting on the perimeters of the intersection.

Upon investigation, Geranios was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Members of the Pittsfield Police and Dalton Fire departments also assisted at the scene.

"Both drivers and passengers were all wearing seat belts and, with airbag deployment, miraculously no one was hurt," Bishop said.

Both vehicles had to be towed away and the case was closed.
