DALTON — Two women were arrested over the weekend for throwing rocks at a neighbor's house and fighting in front of Dalton Police, and one of the women was also accused of kicking an officer in the shin.
Alicia M. Scales, 31, of 563 Main St., Dalton, and Kristen Gralia, 25, of Abbott Street, Springfield, were each charged with single counts of disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Gralia was also charged with assault and battery on a police officer.

Dalton Police went to Scales' apartment around 7:43 p.m. after receiving a neighbor's complaint about loud music, Officer John Marley said in his report. Scales and Gralia were intoxicated and uncooperative at first, but agreed to lower the music.

Police received a second call shortly before 9 p.m. from the same neighbor. This time, Scales and Gralia had allegedly been sitting on their front porch yelling at neighbors and passersby, Marley said.

Gralia allegedly threw a stone and a cement lawn ornament at the complaining neighbor's rear sliding glass doors, he said.

Police spoke with Gralia and Scales at their house, Marley said. They started arguing and raising their voices, he said. Gralia denied throwing anything at her neighbor's house and swore at police, Marley said.
Scales apparently told Gralia "to shut up or they would get arrested," and the two women started fighting in front of police, Marley said. Officers struggled but eventually restrained the women, Marley said.

At some point, Gralia allegedly kicked backward with her right foot and struck Marley in his right shin, he said.

Both women pleaded not guilty to their charges during their arraignments in Central Berkshire District Court Monday. Judge Philip Beattie released them both on personal recognizance and scheduled their pretrial hearings for Aug. 14.
